In the year, therefore, of the creation of the world Christ our God was born. And in the present year #22εφλʹ he was baptized, as has been said. And after all the people had been baptized, as the sacred words say, and when Jesus had been baptized and was praying, it happened that the heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, saying, “You are my beloved Son; in you I am well pleased.” Then, wishing to know also what day of the week it was when the Lord was baptized, we set down the #22εφλʹ years. To these we add the fourth part, and they become #22κʹ. These we divided by seven, saying, seven times ʹ, τʹ, seven times πʹ, φξʹ, seven times ηʹ, νʹ. The remaining epacts are δʹ. To these we add the days from the first month up to the very day on which the Lord was baptized. Thus you have epacts δʹ. 1.306 Of April λʹ, of May λαʹ, of June λʹ, of July λαʹ, of August λαʹ, of September λʹ, of October λαʹ, of November λʹ, of December λαʹ, of January ʹ, together σπεʹ. Divide these by seven, saying seven times μʹ is σπʹ, remainder εʹ. We know therefore that the Lord was baptized on the εʹ day of the week. On which day the Lord himself commanded the waters to bring forth creeping things with living souls, he himself was baptized at the consummation of the ages and sanctified the water and made it life-giving for us. And after he was baptized, and tempted by Satan in the wilderness, and had overcome the tempter, he came into Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and commanding the disciples who had believed and received the preaching of piety to go up with him to Jerusalem, to celebrate the legal Passover. Then wanting to know on what day of the month the ιδʹ of the first lunar month arrived, in the present year #22εφλζʹ, beginning from the καʹ of the month of March, we divided the #22εφλʹ by ιθʹ. remainder ζʹ. Multiplying these by eleven, they become οζʹ. Cast out two thirty-day periods, saying twice λʹ is ξʹ; remainder ιζʹ. Add to these the three before the luminaries, before the moon ζʹ, and the ζʹ from καʹ, and of the month of March itself. Together μδʹ. Subtract λʹ; remainder ιδʹ. And the ιδʹ of the first lunar month arrived on the κζʹ of the month of March. Then wanting to know also on what day the same ιδʹ arrived in the year #22εφλʹ, we add the fourth part, #22ατπδʹ, 1.307 and they become #22κʹ. Divide these by seven, saying ζʹ τʹ, ζπʹ φξʹ, ζηʹ νʹ. The remaining epacts are δʹ. To these add the three before the luminaries, and the ζʹ from καʹ, and of the month of March itself. Together ιδʹ. And subtract ζʹ; remainder ζʹ. And it was the Sabbath.
In the ιθʹ year of Tiberius Caesar the Lord was present for the passion. This year was #22εφλθʹ, in the month of March on the κγʹ, on the ʹ day. And he rose on the κεʹ of the same month of March, at which time it was completed, on the αʹ day. Whence also the church has received the tradition to celebrate the Lord's Passover on the κεʹ of the month of March. At which time the Jewish Passover was completed, in the month of March on the κδʹ, on the ζʹ day. The solar cycle being κγʹ and the lunar ιʹ, having their beginning on the καʹ of the month of March, of the present δʹ indiction. And the ιαʹ year of the natural nineteen-year cycle of the moon, and the κʹ of the natural twenty-eight-year cycle of the sun. This is the fourth Passover in which Christ our true God suffered for us. And the Gospel itself also testifies, that ‘and they themselves did not enter the praetorium, so that they might not be defiled, but so that they might eat the Passover on the next day without hindrance.’ And again, ‘The Jews therefore, so that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the Sabbath, since it was the day of Preparation (for that Sabbath day was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.’ At the time, therefore, when the Lord suffered for us according to the flesh, 1.308 he did not eat the Passover according to the Law, but he himself was sacrificed for us. But that he did not celebrate the Passover on the ιδʹ, but before this he celebrated the mystical supper, when both the sanctification of the unleavened bread and the preparation for the feast were taking place, is found by the disciples

Τῷ δὲ ιθʹ ἔτει Τιβερίου Καίσαρος ὁ κύριος ἐπὶ τὸ πάθος παρῆν. ἔτος τοῦτο #22εφλθʹ, μηνὶ Μαρτίῳ κγʹ, ἡμέρᾳ ʹ. ἀνέστη δὲ τῇ κεʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ Μαρτίου μηνός, ἐν ᾧ χρόνῳ ἐτελέσθη, ἡμέρᾳ αʹ. ὅθεν καὶ τὸ κύριον πάσχα ἑορτάζειν ἡ ἐκκλησία παρεί ληφε τῇ κεʹ τοῦ Μαρτίου μηνός. ἐν ᾧ χρόνῳ ἐτελέσθη τὸ Ἰου δαϊκὸν πάσχα, μηνὶ Μαρτίῳ κδʹ, ἡμέρᾳ ζʹ. κύκλος ἡλίου κγʹ καὶ σελήνης ιʹ, ἀρχὴν εἰληφότα τὴν καʹ τοῦ Μαρτίου μηνός, τῆς ἐνεστώσης δʹ ἰνδικτιῶνος. καὶ ιαʹ ἔτος τῆς κατὰ φύσιν ἐννεακαι δεκαετηρίδος τῆς σελήνης, καὶ κʹ τῆς κατὰ φύσιν ὀκτωκαιεικο σαετηρίδος τοῦ ἡλίου. τοῦτο δὲ τὸ τέταρτον πάσχα ἐστὶν ἐν ᾧ πέπονθεν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν Χριστὸς ὁ ἀληθινὸς θεὸς ἡμῶν. μαρτυρεῖ δὲ καὶ αὐτὸ τὸ εὐαγγέλιον, τό "καὶ αὐτοὶ οὐκ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὸ πραιτώριον, ἵνα μὴ μιανθῶσιν, ἀλλ' ἵνα ἀκωλύτως τῇ ἑξῆς ἡμέρᾳ φάγωσι τὸ πάσχα." καὶ αὖθις "οἱ οὖν Ἰουδαῖοι, ἵνα μὴ μείνῃ ἐπὶ τοῦ σταυροῦ τὰ σώματα ἐν τῷ σαββάτῳ, ἐπεὶ παρασκευὴ ἦν (ἦν γὰρ μεγάλη ἡ ἡμέρα ἐκείνη τοῦ σαββάτου), ἠρώτησαν τὸν Πιλάτον ἵνα κατεαγῶσιν αὐτῶν τὰ σκέλη καὶ ἀρθῶσιν." ἐν ᾧ οὖν καιρῷ κατὰ σάρκα ἔπαθεν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν ὁ κύριος, τὸ κατὰ νό 1.308 μον οὐκ ἔφαγε πάσχα, ἀλλ' αὐτὸς ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν ἐτύθη. ὅτι δὲ οὐ κατὰ τὴν ιδʹ ἐπετέλεσε τὸ πάσχα, ἀλλὰ πρὸ τούτου τὸ μυστικὸν ἐτέλεσε δεῖπνον, ὅτε καὶ ὁ ἁγιασμὸς τῶν ἀζύμων καὶ ἡ προετοι μασία τῆς ἑορτῆς ἐγίνετο, εὑρίσκεται τοῖς μαθηταῖς
