as a season upon the mountains, as the feet of one bringing good tidings of peace, as one bringing good tidings of good things, for I will make your salvation heard, saying, Zion, your God shall reign. And this prophecy would most blessedly apply to the Savior, upon whose advent was fulfilled the saying, "for I am he, I who speak am present." Therefore, to the former people was said to their face the words, "because of you my name is continually blasphemed among the Gentiles;" but the words, "therefore my people shall know my name in that day," might be understood concerning the Gentiles who have believed in him. He therefore is the one who formerly spoke to men, partly through angels, and partly through prophets; and indeed having come again to them, and having preached salvation to all through himself, what meaning this has, the lover of learning will know by investigating. Ps. 27. And the Lord will reveal his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the nations, the ends of the earth, will see the salvation from God. Depart, depart, go out from there and touch no unclean thing; go out from the midst of her and be separate, you who bear the vessels of the Lord; for you will not go out with turmoil, 217 nor will you go by flight; for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard; behold, my servant shall understand, and shall be exalted, and shall be lifted up very high; as many will be astonished at you, so your form shall be without honor from men, and your glory from men; so many nations will marvel at him, and kings will shut their mouths; because those to whom it was not proclaimed concerning him will see, and those who have not heard will understand. Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? We proclaimed him as a child before him, as a root in a thirsty land; he has no form nor glory; and we saw him and he had no form nor beauty; but his form was dishonored, failing beyond the sons of men; a man being in affliction, and knowing how to bear sickness, because his face is turned away, he was dishonored and not esteemed. He bears our sins, and suffers pain for us, and we considered him to be in trouble and in affliction and in distress. But he was wounded for our sins, and was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him, by his stripe we were healed. We all went astray like sheep; a man went astray in his own way, and the Lord delivered him up for our sins; and he, because of his affliction, does not open his mouth; he was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he does not open his mouth; in his humiliation his judgment was taken away, and who will declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth, for the iniquities of my people he was led 218 to death; and I will give the wicked for his burial, and the rich for his death, because he committed no iniquity, nor was deceit found in his mouth; and the Lord wishes to cleanse him from his wound; if you give an offering for sin, your soul will see a long-lived seed; and the Lord wishes with his hand to take away from the trouble of his soul, to show him light, and to form him with understanding; to justify the just one who serves many, and he himself will bear their sins; therefore he will inherit many, and will divide the spoils of the strong; because his soul was delivered to death, and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sins of many, and was delivered up for their iniquities. Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear, break forth and cry out and {2}2rejoice, you who are not in labor, for the children of the desolate are many more than of her who has a husband. And at what other time than at the advent of our Savior Jesus Christ did the Father and God of all reveal before the nations the great arm, which is none other than his Word, which nations, having seen the salvation given to them by God, are commanded to depart from their former way
