Joasaph is placed. And he, without any delay, goes himself with a great host, and arrives at the cave, and beholds the tomb, and, weeping most fervently over it, lifts the cover. And he sees both Barlaam and Joasaph with their limbs lying in position, and their bodies in no way changed from their former complexion, but whole and perfectly sound, along with their garments. Therefore, these sacred tabernacles of the 608 holy souls, sending forth a great fragrance and showing nothing at all unpleasant, the king, placing them in precious caskets, transfers them to his own country. And when the event came to the ears of the people, a multitude beyond number from all the cities and the surrounding regions flocked together for the veneration and viewing of those blessed bodies. Then, having sung the sacred hymns over them, and having lavishly lit lamps (fittingly, one might say, and very appropriately were the lights there for the sons and heirs of light), splendidly and magnificently together they laid them to rest in the church that had been built from its very foundations by Joasaph. And many miracles and healings both during the transfer, and at the burial, and in the times that followed, the Lord performed through His holy servants. And King Barachias and all the multitude saw the mighty works done through them, and many of the surrounding nations, suffering from unbelief and ignorance of God, came to believe through the signs that occurred at the tomb. And all who saw and heard of the angel-like life of Joasaph and his fervent longing for God from his tenderest years, marveled, glorifying God in all things, Who ever works with those who love Him and rewards them with the greatest gifts. Here ends the present account, which I have written according to my ability, as I heard it from the venerable 610 men who truthfully handed it down to me. And may it be that we, who read and hear this soul-profiting narrative, be deemed worthy of the portion of those who have pleased the Lord, through the prayers and intercessions of the blessed Barlaam and Joasaph, about whom this narrative is, in Christ Jesus our Lord, to Whom belong honor, power, majesty, and magnificence, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
