"For 'these, having no law, are a law to themselves'—", so as to have his own law interwoven with the law of the Lord. 10 Fear the Lord, all you his saints. For there is no want for those who fear him. I exhort all the saints to fear the Lord himself. And it is said in Isaiah: "He will be your fear." Let him become your fear. And just as he becomes food for some, and for others wisdom, making them wise, and for others righteousness, and they become righteous for whom he has become righteousness, so 196 they also partake of sanctification; for he himself is also sanctification, "who became for us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption." "Fear" therefore "God, all you his saints." His saints; for there are those who are simply called saints, but are not his. As many as affect holiness, seem to be saints, but not of God. And he states the reason why "all": "for there is no want for those who fear him." The fear of God makes them without want and unfailing. "Fear the Lord, all you his saints." Since "there is no want for those who fear him," in order that you may become unfailing, fear God himself. And the fear of God is not, as I said, a passion, but is equal to reverence, equal to piety. When we receive an impression of God, fear immediately increases, piety comes alongside; for we do not fear thus as if terrified by him, not as by some bogeyman, but as one who is exceedingly venerable. And since the church is holy, glorious, having stood at the right hand of the Savior, all those who complete it are saints. Therefore, it can be said concerning the calling of the nations: "Fear the Lord, all you his saints." Because there is no want for those who fear him. 11 The rich have become poor and hungry, but those who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing. The former ones, who completed the synagogue before the coming, being rich, fell into poverty. The rich have become poor and hungry, but those who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing. When the kingdom of God was taken from them, when the understanding of the divine scriptures departed from them, when they turned away from the old scripture and it from them, from rich they became poor; for since this wealth benefits the one having it in every way—for it becomes his food, it becomes his shelter and clothing—it says that these rich men, having become poor, grew hungry. They cast off spiritual food, they turned away from the "bread of life." They became poor, therefore, but although they became poor, those who seek the Lord are not deprived of good things, but become full of them, they will partake of them perfectly; for just as the kingdom of heaven has been taken from them—this the mother of Jesus also says: "He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty." Those who were once rich were sent away empty; for even if they have the books of Moses and the prophets, yet they are empty of their divine fullness. The fullness, therefore, of the divine scripture is not the shadow, but the truth and the spirit. "Those who seek" therefore "the Lord"—to seek out denotes intensity—are filled with all good things. Concerning this the psalmist also says somewhere, discoursing with his own soul: "Bless, my soul, the Lord, who satisfies your desire with good things." And: "Delight in the Lord, and he will give you the requests of your heart." In it all who are moving away from the shadow of the law and from knowledge and prophecy in part find all good things. But the spiritual things of the law are properly good and without lack and most full; for these lead by the hand also to the truth face to face, which brings what is perfect, in which no one will be imperfect. 12 Come, children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of the Lord having spoken about the necessity of assuming fear toward God, and how some, having fallen away from

"οἱ ἐκζητοῦντες" οὖν "τὸν κύριον"-ἐπίτασιν τὸ ἐκζητεῖν δηλοῖ-πληροῦνται πάντων ἀγαθῶν. περὶ τούτου καὶ ὁ ὑμ̣νῳδός που λέγει πρὸς τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ψυχὴν διαλεγόμενος· "εὐλόγει, ἡ ψυχή μου, τὸν κύριον τὸν ἐνπιμπλῶντα ἐν ἀγαθοῖς τὴν ἐπιθυμίαν σου". καί· "κατατρύφησον τοῦ κυρίου, καὶ δώσει σοι τὰ αἰτήματα τῆς καρδίας σου". ἐπ' αὐτῆς εὑρίσκουσιν καλὰ πάντα̣ οἱ μεταβαίνοντες ἀπὸ τῆς σκιᾶς τοῦ νόμου καὶ τῆς ἐκ μέρους γνώσεως καὶ προφητείας. κυρίως δὲ ἀγαθὰ καὶ ἀκαθυστέρητα καὶ πληρέστατα τὰ τοῦ νόμου πνευματικά· ταῦτα γὰρ χειραγωγοῦσιν καὶ εἰς τὴν ἀλήθειαν τὴν πρόσωπον πρὸς πρόσωπον, τὴν τὸ τέλειον φέρουσαν, ἐν ᾗ οὐδεὶς ἀτελὴς ἔσται. 12 δεῦτε, τέκνα, ἀκούσατέ μου. φόβον κυρίου διδάξω ὑμᾶς εἰρηκὼς περὶ τοῦ δεῖν πρὸς τὸν θεὸν ἀναλαβεῖν φόβον, καὶ ὥς τινες ἀποπεσόντες ἀπ'
