Judicial procedure. not simply every lawsuit, but those in which there is a dispute about something. Diasia. a festival celebrated in Athens to Zeus. From "asas," the sorrows, for example: may sorrows not devour him. delta.511 and the participle "asomenos". Diasia then is that which permits the sorrows. Dialectic. the demonstrative, the science of true and false and neutral things. the method through reputable opinions. the art of reasoning, by which we refute something, or establish it from the question and answer of those conversing. and dialectic from "to converse," because dialogue is composed of question and answer. Discourse. experience in words, that is, to express what has been thought. "Dialexis" (discourse) differs from "dialektos" (dialect). Dialect is a national characteristic of speech, while discourse is a departure from common speech toward the more solemn or the more rustic. Dialect is that by which each person converses with others according to their own custom, or from being distinguished and separated from others; for each of them is distinguished from another by being spoken and selected as being the best. Dispositions are not only sciences and arts, but also virtues. And in art there exists the trivial and the serious; for of the arts, some are trivial, others serious. Aristotle uses the name of science more commonly instead of art. There would also be in disposition, being a genus of art, the trivial and the serious. Dispositions are said to be things that are easily moved and quickly changed; for example, heat and cold and sickness and health. For a man is in some way disposed according to it; but he quickly changes from hot to cold, and from being healthy to being sick; unless through a great length of time something has already become natural and is incurable and hard to move; which someone might perhaps already call a state. And a state differs from a disposition; for a state is hard to move, but a disposition is easy to move. Distributions. the portions falling to one from an equal division. Thus Lysias. And when the defendant is acquitted of the charge either by the concession of the prosecutor or by a favorable verdict, and is no longer accused of anything, it is called a dismissal of the suit. Incursions. of movements in battle array. Solemn protestation and to protest solemnly. the testimony was a manner of demurrer. For before the suit was brought into the court, it was possible for one who wished to protest solemnly. To protest solemnly is to foretell the punishment for disobedience, and the benefit for obedience. Now branchē is a part of some body, but kraura is a fever, with pain; this is indicated by the ears being cast down and the eyes being downcast.
