a Master and turns no one away empty", but having received it, were to hide it by burying it, then he is more angry with the one who received it as one who is envious and does not want his brothers to receive as he himself received.

Therefore, what I have seen and what marvelous things of God I have known by deed and experience, I cannot bear not to speak of, but I bear witness beforehand to all the rest as in the presence of God, saying with a loud voice: "Run, all of you, before the door of repentance is closed to you by death, run so that you may attain before your departure, hasten so that you may receive, knock so that before the end (424) the Master may open for you the gates of paradise and manifest himself to you, be diligent to possess the kingdom of heaven within you consciously and not depart from here empty of it, and especially those who think they have it within themselves unconsciously, but on account of their conceit have nothing".

How then, tell me, can one who has not possessed the mind of Christ see the Father of Christ? And he who does not see Him speaking within himself, through what or how can he say: "Abba, Father"? He who has not consciously possessed the kingdom of heaven within himself, how will he enter it after death? He who has not beheld the Son with the Father abiding in him through the Spirit, how will he be with them in the age to come, as the Lord said: "Father, those whom you have given me, I will that where I am, they also may be with me", and again: "I do not pray for these only, but also for all who believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be one in us. And the glory which you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may be made perfect in one and that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them as you have loved me".

This then, brothers, is the manner of my, as some think, boastfulness. Thus the love of God moves me towards you, my fathers and (425) brothers, to reveal the ineffable goodness and love of God towards us, by which He so greatly and without envy glorifies those who have hoped in Him.

But answer me as I ask, I beseech you: "What then? Does the Father love the Son unknowingly, and is the Son with the Father unknowingly and invisibly?" - "No," you would surely say. For if we grant this and dogmatize that the Father and the Son are ignorant of each other, our faith is gone and has perished; for if they are ignorant of each other, it is altogether necessary that we also be completely ignorant of them; and if this is so, then we are atheists, having no knowledge of God. But if, "as He knows," it says, "the Father knows the Son, and the Son knows the Father," and as God is with God and Father, and the Father is likewise with the Son, as when He says: "As you, Father, are in me and I in you, so may they also be in me and I in them," it certainly indicates the equality of the union with one another. However, the union of the Son with the Father is natural and co-eternal, but ours with the Son is by adoption and by grace, nevertheless, in the same way we are all united to God and inseparable, as He says again: "I in them and you in me, that they may be made perfect in one, and why? that the world may know that you sent me and have loved them, as you have loved me," and Paul: "Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free, but Christ is all and in all."

Therefore, hear these things, you who think yourselves to be (426) spiritual, and believe him who speaks, but me, who tell you in the word of grace the gifts which those who in fervent faith run to Him and do His commandments receive from God, ministering to the Spirit who inspires from above, acquit me of all blame. But as to who is speaking, hear the Lord himself say: "For not
