and having been completely purified by the illumination of the light, He Himself will come whole, He will dwell within, He who made the world will be with you, and you will have true wealth which the world does not have, but heaven and those who are enrolled there. If this happens to you, say, what more do you want? Say, ungrateful soul, say, ignorant soul, (353) say, my humble soul, what is greater than these things in the heavens or on the earth, that you should seek that? The maker of heaven and the Master of the earth and the creator of all things in heaven and all things in the world, being Himself judge and king, He alone dwells in you, shown to you whole, illuminating you whole with light and revealing the beauty of His face, and granting you to see Him more clearly and making you a partaker of His own glory. Say, what else is greater than this? Surely you will say nothing more to me. But I say again: Having been deemed worthy of such glory, O soul, why do you still gape at the earth, why are you charmed by things here, why do you cling to corruptible things, having received the incorruptible, why are you attached to present things, having found those to come? Strive, soul, to possess those things forever; cleave your whole self to them, my soul, so that even after death you may be found in them, in the eternal good things which you acquired from here, and with them stand before the Maker and Master, rejoicing with Him unto ages of ages, amen.

That there are times when, through care for and correction of one's neighbor, the teacher is dragged down into the weakness of the passion that unites him to that person. (354)

Have mercy on me, Lord, have mercy on me, O only one, who have sheltered me, Savior, from my infant years, who, though I have stumbled very much while having full knowledge, have in your own goodness had compassion on all, who rescued me from the terrible and vain world and from relatives and friends and unfitting pleasures and here have deemed me worthy to sit as on a mountain and have shown me your wondrous glory, my God, and have filled me with your Divine Spirit, my Christ, and have sated me whole with spiritual illumination. You yourself grant your grace without regret, my God, to me your servant completely to the end. Do not take it away, Master, do not turn away, Creator,
