O mystery unknown to all who are passionate, unknown to the lovers of the world, unknown to the lovers of glory, unknown to the arrogant, unknown indeed to the irascible, and unknown to those who bear grudges, unknown to lovers of the flesh, unknown to lovers of money, and unknown to the envious, unknown to all slanderers, unknown indeed to hypocrites, and unknown to gluttons, unknown to secret eaters (330) and to drunkards and the fornicators; unknown to idle talkers, unknown to those who use foul language, and unknown to the lazy, unknown to those who neglect timely repentance, unknown to those who do not mourn perpetually each day, unknown to the insubordinate, unknown to the contentious, unknown to the self-willed, unknown to those who think they are something, when they are nothing, unknown to those who boast, but do not also take delight in the size of body or strength or beauty or in any other charisma whatsoever, I tell you; unknown to those who have not acquired a pure heart, unknown to those who do not ask with warmth of heart to receive the Divine Spirit, unknown to those who disbelieve that the Divine Spirit is given even now to those who seek. ὤ μυστήριον τό πᾶσιν ἄγνωστον τοῖς ἐμπαθέσιν, ἄγνωστον τοῖς φιλοκόσμοις, ἄγνωστον τοῖς φιλοδόξοις, ἄγνωστον ὑπερηφάνοις, ἄγνωστον ὄντως ὀργίλοις, ἄγνωστον καί μνησικάκοις, ἄγνωστον τοῖς φιλασάρκοις, ἄγνωστον τοῖς φιλαργύροις, ἄγνωστον τοῖς φθονεροῖς τε, ἄγνωστον πᾶσι λοιδόροις, ἄγνωστον ὑποκριταῖς γε, ἄγνωστον καί γαστριμάργοις, ἄγνωστον τοῖς λαθροφάγοις (330) καί μεθύσοις τε καί πόρνοις˙ ἄγνωστον τοῖς ἀργολόγοις, ἄγνωστον τοῖς αἰσχρολόγοις, ἄγνωστον καί τοῖς ῥαθύμοις, ἄγνωστον τοῖς ἀμελοῦσι τῆς καθ᾿ ὥραν μετανοίας, ἄγνωστον τοῖς μή πενθοῦσιν ἀενάως καθ᾿ ἑκάστην ἄγνωστον ἀνυποτάκτοις, ἄγνωστον τοῖς ἀντιλόγοις, ἄγνωστον ἰδιορρύθμοις, ἄγνωστον τοῖς οἰομένοις εἶναί τι, μηδέν δέ οὖσιν, ἄγνωστον τοῖς καυχωμένοις, ἀλλά μή καί τερπομένοις ἐπί σώματος μεγέθει ἤ δυνάμει εἴτε κάλλει ἤ χαρίσματι ἑτέρῳ οἱῳδήποτέ σοι λέγω˙ ἄγνωστον τοῖς μή καρδίαν καθαράν προσκτησαμένοις, ἄγνωστον τοῖς μή αἰτοῦσιν ἐν θερμότητι καρδίας τοῦ λαβεῖν τό Θεῖον Πνεῦμα, ἄγνωστον τοῖς ἀπιστοῦσιν ὅτι δίδοται καί ἄρτι τοῖς ζητοῦσι Πνεῦμα Θεῖον.
