covetousness which is the second idolatry, anger, wrath, fornication, adultery, and every defilement of the body; not practicing sorcery, or divination, or any incantation, but purifying himself night and day in order to partake blamelessly of the precious body and blood of Christ; caring for orphans, and likewise also for widows and proselytes; not turning away from one who asks, or one who wishes to borrow, but also tearing up every unjust contract; and if he holds a just one, not bringing it forward or showing it to any, being wholly of God, and having from God, if he has anything justly from Him, and offering to Him His own things, and seeking from God what is lacking, and glorifying those who glorify God, and honoring His servants; pitying the enemies of the faith on account of their blindness, and trying with all his power to convert them, but turning away from those who persist, and hating with a perfect hatred those who hate the Lord; conducting himself in all goodness, in all piety, in all purity, as having God wholly in himself, and being wholly of God, by the remembrance of Him and of His commandments always being moved, and stirred, and lying down, and rising up, and eating and drinking and spending the day, according to what is written: I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for He is on my right hand, that I should not be moved; and, Let all the earth be afraid, and let all the inhabitants of the world be moved by Him; not bearing grudges, because the ways of the grudge-bearers lead to death, 63.901 and he who has forgiven his neighbor's sin, his own sins are forgiven by God. For if we do not remember the sins which others have sinned against us, neither does God remember our sins, which we have sinned against him. But to judge justly in the fear of God. For the judgment is God's; not to condemn others in their sins, that is, to despise and abominate, and to watch for the evils of one's neighbor, and to justify oneself, and not seeing one's own beams, but the specks of one's neighbor, that is, to bring forth the small failings of our brethren; which greatly provokes God; for it is not just to judge another's servant; for every man is God's. But to judge and correct in love, and to deliver one who is wronged from the hand of the one wronging him, and to become a father to the helpless, and an eye for the blind, and a foot for the lame, according to what has been said, is pious and just when done with fitting admonition and exhortation; as the blessed Apostle says: For three years, night and day, I did not cease to admonish each one of you with tears; and for the Christian to flee shameful gains, and to be rather reverent and holy, and to attend to reading and to 63.902 exhortation and to admonition and to teaching according to what has been said: Teaching and admonishing (sic) one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord; honoring also those who have begotten us, that we may be long-lived upon the earth, and not to speak evil of father or mother, but to provide also for one's own, and especially for those of the household of faith. And not abandoning the ecclesiastical assemblies, that is, the common gatherings and prayers, but also publicly before all the people giving prayers to God, and not despising wise exhortations, or godly teachings; or judging as unbelievable or impossible the wonders and works of God, which are performed in every generation, not considering this. A person acting thus, and thus having God in his heart, in prudence, will inherit the kingdom prepared for the saints from the foundation of the world, which never has an end; which may it befall us all to attain, by the grace and loving-kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
