15.62.17 Let our *Preparation for the Gospel* be concluded with these matters; but the matters of the more complete treatise, that of the *Demonstration of the Gospel*, must now at length be examined from another starting point of discussion, as we are to set forth the teaching that is lacking for the 15.62.18 problem. For it remains, then, to answer those of the circumcision who have found fault, for what reason, being of another tribe and of another race, we make use of their books, which, as they themselves would say, in no way pertain to us; or why, while embracing the oracles among them, we do not also live a life in accordance with the law among them.

15.62.17 τῆς Εὐαγγελικῆς Προπαρασκευῆς ἐν τούτοις ἡμῖν περιγεγράφθω· τὰ δὲ τῆς ἐντελεστέρας πραγματείας, τῆς κατὰ τὴν Εὐαγγελικὴν Ἀπόδειξιν, ἤδη λοιπὸν ἐπισκεπτέον ἀφ' ἑτέρας λόγων ἀρχῆς, τῆς δὴ λειπούσης τῷ 15.62.18 προβλήματι, τὴν διδασκαλίαν ποιησομένοις. λείπει δὲ ἄρα πρὸς τοὺς ἐκ περιτομῆς ἐπιμεμψαμένους ἀποκρίνασθαι, τί δή ποτε ἀλλόφυλοι ὄντες καὶ ἀλλογενεῖς ταῖς αὐτῶν βίβλοις ἀποχρώμεθα, μηδὲν ἡμῖν, ὡς ἂν αὐτοὶ φαῖεν, προσηκούσαις· ἢ τί δὴ τὰ παρ' αὐτοῖς ἀσπαζόμενοι λόγια οὐχὶ καὶ τὸν βίον ἀκόλουθον τῷ παρ' αὐτοῖς παρέχομεν νόμῳ.
