37. Unless perchance the frenzy of utter desperation will venture to rush to such lengths that, inasmuch as the Apostle has called Christ Lord, no one ought to acknowledge Him as aught else save Lord, and that because He has the property of Lord He has not the true Godhead. But Paul knows full well that Christ is God, for he says, Whose are the fathers, and of whom is Christ, Who is God over all434 Rom. ix. 5.. It is no creature here who is reckoned as God; nay, it is the God of things created Who is God over all.
37. Christum non modo Dominum, sed et Deum docuit Paulus.---Nisi forte eo usque ultimae desperationis furor audebit erumpere, ut quia Christum Dominum Apostolus dixerit, nemo aliud eum praeter quam Dominum debeat confiteri, et habens Domini proprietatem, non habeat Dei veritatem. Sed non ignorat Paulus Christum Deum, dicens: Quorum patres, 0264Cet ex quibus Christus, qui est super omnia Deus (Rom. IX, 5). Non hic creatura in Deum deputatur: sed creaturarum Deus est, qui super omnia Deus est.
