having considered the covenant common. But do not deliver us up [Fr. παραδῷς] utterly for your name's sake, O Lord, and do not scatter your covenant; and do not take your mercy from us, for your compassions' sake, our Father who art in heaven; (945) and for the mercy of your Holy Spirit. Do not remember our former iniquities; but let your compassions quickly come before us, for we have become exceedingly poor. Help us, O God our Savior. For the glory of your name's sake, O Lord, deliver us, and be merciful to our sins for your name's sake O Lord, remembering our first-fruits which your only-begotten Son, having taken from us out of love for mankind, holds on our behalf in heaven, that he might grant us a firm hope of salvation; and that we may not become worse through despair, through his precious blood, which he poured out for the life of the world; through his holy Apostles and Martyrs, who for his name's sake poured out their own blood; through the holy Prophets and Fathers and Patriarchs, who strove to be well-pleasing to your holy name. Do not overlook our supplication, O Lord, nor forsake us utterly. For we have not trusted in our own righteousness, but in your mercy, by which you preserve our race. We beseech and entreat your goodness, that the mystery ordained for us by your only-begotten Son for salvation may not become a judgment for us; and do not cast us away from your presence. Do not abhor our unworthiness; but have mercy on us according to your great mercy, and according to the multitude of your compassions, pass over our sins [Fr. alterge M. ἀνομήματα], that having approached without condemnation before your holy glory, we may be deemed worthy of the protection of your only-begotten Son, and may not become reprobate as wicked servants to sin [Fr. Yea, almighty Master, Lord, hear our prayer, for besides you we know no other. We call upon your name; for you are the one working all things in all, and from you we all seek help. Look down therefore from heaven, O Lord, and behold from the house of your holy glory. Where is your zeal and your strength? Where is the multitude of your mercy and of your compassions, that you have endured our fall? For you are our Father, because Abraham did not know us, and Israel did not acknowledge us; but you, O Lord, our Father, deliver us, for from the beginning your holy name is upon us, and that of your only-begotten Son, and of your Holy Spirit. Why have you caused us to stray, O Lord, from your way; do not discipline us with the rod of your judgments. Why have you hardened our hearts, so as not to fear you? have you abandoned us to the self-will of error? Turn back, O Lord, your servants, for the sake of your holy Church; for the sake of all your saints from ages past, that we may inherit a small portion of your holy mountain. Our adversaries have trampled down your sanctuary; we have become as from the beginning when you did not rule over us, nor was your name called upon us.
38. If you open the heaven, trembling from you will seize the mountains, and they will melt like wax from the face of the fire; and fire will burn up the adversaries; (948) and your name will be terrible to the adversaries. When you do glorious things, trembling from you will seize the mountains. From of old we have not heard, nor have our eyes seen a God, besides you. And your works, which you will do for those who wait for mercy; for it will meet those who do what is right, and they will remember your ways. Behold, you were angry, and we sinned. Rather, we sinned and you were angry; on account of this we went astray, and we all became as unclean; all our righteousness as a filthy rag; and we have fallen like leaves because of our iniquities, thus [ἄλ. ὄντως] the wind will carry us away, and there is no one who calls upon your name, nor one who remembers to take hold of you, And you have turned your face from us, and have delivered us up, on account of our sins. And now, O Lord, you are our Father; and we
