Conjunction. a word connecting thought with order, and indicating what is open in the interpretation; what is open is what is separated. The conjunction was found to be the last of all the parts of speech, because it is connective of all the parts of speech. Three things follow the conjunction: kind, form, and accent. A bond differs from a conjunction, in that a bond is characterized as one, but a conjunction as many. In how many ways does the conjunction *ētoi* (or) differ from the conjunction *men* (on the one hand)? In two ways: that *ētoi* is poetic, while *men* is common; and that *ētoi* is placed in the middle, while *men* is placed at the beginning. The conjunction *alla* (but) is taken instead of *kai* (and); for example, it is day, but I do not see the clouds. There are also expletive conjunctions, having a certain name from being redundant; for many of them fill out the phrase by way of pleonasm. The adversative conjunctions indicate the contrary to the force of the matter; for example, I am weak, but you are strong, and yet being weak I struck you who are strong. Farewell speeches. The farewells at the departure from cities in the presence of the rulers. Such is also the farewell oration of the great father Gregory the Theologian. sigma.1684 Sweepings. chaff or dry sticks, or some other things. just as from *hyō* (to rain) comes *hyetos* (rain), from *pnigō* (to choke) comes *pnigetos* (choking), so from *syrō* (to drag) comes *syretos* (something dragged), and with the pleonasm of *ph*, *syrphetos*. Common meal. the companionship, that is, the coming together for breakfast. and common meals. Pig. the swine. from *seiō*, to rush; for the animal is impetuous. *sys*, and with the removal of the s, *hys*. or from *hyesthai*, to be wet. *hyō*, *hysō*, *hys*. For it delights in waters. and with the pleonasm of the s, *sys*. The y of the genitive is short, since words in -ys with a circumflex shorten the y in the genitive: *mys*, *myos* (mouse); *drys*, *dryos* (oak); *sys*, *syos* (pig), and *hys*, *hyos*. Pigsty. the pen of the pigs. Syrmaismos. it is a certain food made of suet and honey; and it is suitable for purging. It is also a drink made of water and salt. Mixture. sometimes it indicates union; sometimes confusion. Comparison. the augmentation of the primary forms.
