The Paulianists come from Paul of Samosata. This Paul comes very close to affirming that Christ does not exist, for he has made Him out to be a spoken word that began to exist from Mary. Those things said about Him in sacred Scripture as existing were spoken prophetically at a time when He did not exist. On the contrary, He began to exist from Mary from that time when He became present in the flesh.
Παυλιανισταί, ἀπὸ Παύλου τοῦ Σαμοσατέως. Οὗτος ὁ Παῦλος ἀνύπαρκτον τὸν Χριστὸν ὀλίγου δεῖν διαβεβαιοῦται, λόγον προφορικὸν αὐτὸν σχηματίσας, ἀπὸ Μαρίας δὲ καὶ δεῦρο εἶναι, προκαταγγελτικῶς μὲν τὰ περὶ αὐτοῦ ἐν ταῖς θείαις γραφαῖς εἰρημένα ἔχοντος μέν, μὴ ὄντος δέ, ἀλλ' ἀπὸ Μαρίας καὶ δεῦρο ἀπὸ τῆς ἐνσάρκου παρουσίας ἔχειν τὴν ὕπαρξιν.
