Solutiones (fragmentum e tractatu de dogmatum solutione) (e cod. Vat.
gr. 447)
8. There was a certain rich man, who feasted sumptuously every day; and a certain poor man, Lazarus, was laid at his gate, full of sores, according to the gospel story. It came to pass, then, that both died, and this poor man went to his rest, but the other to punishment. Did these things already happen 86 and a worthy retribution was allotted to each, or does it prefigure the image of the future judgment in these things? But, he says, since it names the appellation of Lazarus, it truly happened and was done. For why did it not say, "A certain poor man," but "Lazarus"? So that by the appellation it might show these things to have been done in experience and in truth. Solution: The judgment, etc.
9. Whether Hosea the prophet took a harlot for a wife and begot children from her in deed and in action, or does he speak of things to be understood prophetically. Whether Melchizedek was not simply a man nor a spirit, but a man not having the beginning of his generation from men but newly created by God.
CYR.Concerning these chapters, a long discourse has been made by us, when we were writing on Hosea the prophet, and in the book on Genesis a great deal of examination is found concerning Melchizedek, and it is possible for your piety to consult the books and from there to grasp the meaning of what has been said on each point.

Ηʹ.
