Testamentum ad cives

A testament to the citizens.

31 But nevertheless they propose a testament arranged for the citizens, according to which he commands not to bring up images into churches or into cemeteries. 32 Take heed to yourselves and hold fast to the traditions which you have received; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. 33 And in this be mindful, beloved children, not to bring up images into churches nor into the cemeteries of the saints; but always keep God in memory in your hearts. but neither in a common house; for it is not lawful for a Christian to be distracted through the eyes and wanderings of the mind, but let the things concerning God be inscribed and impressed upon all. 34 If anyone endeavors to comprehend the divine character of the Word of God according to the incarnation from material colors... let him be anathema.

Testamentum ad cives
