Fragments on the Epistle to the Hebrews
Hebr 1,12 To those around Abraham and Moses and those who followed. Therefore, he says, God, having spoken in various ways and suitably for each occasion to our ancestors through his own prophets, now that all time is being fulfilled, has spoken to us in a Son, that is, having previously instructed our race of each generation with laws 421 suitable for the acquisition of righteousness and the knowledge of God through his own servants, now that the times have been fulfilled in Christ and in the economy according to him, he has announced to us the perfect grace of these things. And he speaks of the restoration of our nature to incorruptibility and sinlessness after the cross through his resurrection. {Hebr 1,3} He has reverently called the Father 'glory', and the Son 'radiance', teaching by an example that he is both from the Father and co-eternal with the Father; for such is the radiance, being from the sun and co-existing with it. Therefore, one would never say the sun is older than its own radiance. And he said this without the syllable of the Father, according to the idiom of Scripture.
{Hebr 5,8} Instead of: by his suffering, having the lesson of obedience most completely he demonstrated it, and this, being the Son. And so we too are accustomed to speak. Often, for instance, when someone has gone through a speech excellently, we say that this man has truly learned from the words he has spoken, that is, by the message and the phrasing he has certainly shown that he has mastered the learning of the words.
{Hebr. 6,1} The saying is an instance of hyperbaton; for 'of teaching' is in the middle in relation to all that lies beside it, and this is its construction according to the sense: not laying again a foundation of teaching, and then the things that follow in enumeration concerning which the teaching is the foundation. But he means to say that for those now first approaching the faith, we lay down beforehand the teaching concerning these things as a kind of foundation, exhorting them first, as is fitting, to repent from dead works, and as they are repenting, to believe in God, and as they are believing, to be baptized, and as they are being baptized, to submit themselves to the laying on of the priestly hands for a share of the Spirit, and having partaken of this, no longer to disbelieve concerning the resurrection from the dead, and knowing that those who will be raised and will live again will face a judgment, and 422 to await a continuous and just recompense for the things we have lived here.
{Hebr. 9,2} According to one account, therefore, I think the lampstand, as has been said, signifies the light from these perceptible stars, and the table, the earth, and the setting forth of the loaves, the production of our necessities from the earth.

ἐπεδείξατο, καὶ ταῦτα τυγχάνων υἱός. οὕτω δὲ καὶ ἡμεῖς λέγειν εἰώθαμεν. πολλάκις γοῦν ἄριστα λόγον διεξεληλυθότος τινός, φαμὲν ὅτι οὗτος ἀληθῶς ἔμαθεν ἀφ' ὧν εἴρηκεν λόγους, τοῦτ' ἔστι τῇ ἀγγελίᾳ καὶ τῇ φράσει βεβαίως ἔδειξε κατωρθωκέναι τῶν λόγων τὴν μάθησιν.
