THE DIVINE LITURGY OF OUR FATHER AMONG THE SAINTS, GREGORY.

O Master, Lord Jesus Christ, who has visited us in mercy and compassion, and granted boldness to us, your humble, sinful, and unworthy servants, to stand before your holy altar, and to offer to you the awesome and bloodless sacrifice, for our own sins, and for the ignorances of your people, for the relief and repose of our fathers and brothers who have fallen asleep, and for the strengthening of all your people. Look upon me, your unprofitable servant, and blot out my transgressions, through your compassion; and cleanse my lips and my heart from every defilement of flesh and spirit; and remove from me every shameful and foolish thought; and sanctify me by the power of your Holy Spirit for this liturgy, and receive me, through your goodness, as I approach your holy altar; and be pleased, O Lord, that the gifts about to be offered to you by our hands may be acceptable, condescending to my weaknesses; and do not cast me away from your presence; do not abhor me for my unworthiness, but have mercy on me, O God, according to your great mercy, and according to the multitude of your compassions blot out my iniquity, so that, having come uncondemned before your glory, I may be deemed worthy of your protection, and of the illumination of your all-holy Spirit; and may I not be rejected as a servant of sin, but as a servant, who finds* grace and mercy and remission of sins, both in this age and in the age to come. Yes, Master, almighty, all-powerful Lord, hear my prayer. For you are the one who works all things in all; and from you we all seek help and assistance in all things; for you are the lover of mankind, and are glorified, Jesus our God, with your beginningless Father, and your Holy Spirit, now and ever. 36.701 Prayer after the preparation of the holy altar. Ὁ ἐπισκεψάμενος ἡμᾶς ἐν ἐλέει καὶ οἰκτιρμοῖς, ∆έσποτα Κύριε Ἰησοῦ Χριστὲ, καὶ χαρισάμενος ἡμῖν παῤῥησίαν, τοῖς ταπεινοῖς καὶ ἁμαρτωλοῖς, καὶ ἀναξίοις δούλοις σου, παραστῆναι τῷ ἁγίῳ σου θυσιαστηρίῳ, καὶ προσφέρειν σοι τὴν φοβερὰν καὶ ἀναίμακτον θυσίαν, ὑπὲρ τῶν ἡμετέρων ἁμαρτημά των, καὶ τῶν τοῦ λαοῦ σου ἀγνοημάτων, εἰς ἄνεσιν καὶ ἀνάπαυσιν τῶν προκοιμηθέντων πατέρων ἡμῶν καὶ ἀδελφῶν, καὶ στηριγμὸν παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ σου.
