to the house of God. Let us consider, therefore, how many burdens of sins each of us has, and let us make our acts of charity a counterweight, or rather, even much more, so that not only may our sins be extinguished, but that also our righteous deeds may be reckoned to us for righteousness. For if our good deeds are not so great, as both to put off our offenses, and from what is left over to be reckoned to us for righteousness, no one will rescue us from punishment; from which may we all be delivered, by the grace and loving-kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ, with whom to the Father, together with the Holy Spirit, and the rest.

οἴκῳ τοῦ Θεοῦ. Ἐννοήσωμεν οὖν ὅσα ἡμῶν ἕκαστος ἔχει φορτία ἁμαρτημάτων, καὶ ἀντιῤῥόπους ποιήσωμεν τὰς φιλανθρωπίας, μᾶλλον δὲ καὶ πολλῷ πλείους, ἵνα μὴ μόνον σβεσθῶσιν αἱ ἁμαρτίαι, ἀλλ' ἵνα καὶ εἰς δικαιοσύνην ἡμῖν λογισθῶσιν αἱ δικαιοσύναι. Ἂν γὰρ μὴ τοσαῦτα ᾖ τὰ ἀγαθὰ, ὡς καὶ τὰ ἐγκλήματα ἀποδύσασθαι, καὶ ἐκ τῶν ὑποληφθέντων εἰς δικαιοσύνην ἡμῖν λογισθῆναι, οὐδεὶς ἡμᾶς ἐξαιρήσεται τῆς κολάσεως· ἧς γένοιτο πάντας ἡμᾶς ἀπαλλαγῆναι, χάριτι καὶ φιλανθρωπίᾳ τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, μεθ' οὗ τῷ Πατρὶ ἅμα τῷ ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι, καὶ τὰ ἑξῆς.
