shall enter in among you: that it may not strike your mind with dismay and destroy you, see the comfort. And now, he says. He spoke thus, showing by this that it is just as always. I commend you, brethren, to God and to the word of His grace; that is, to His grace. And he well said so; for he knows that grace saves. He continually reminds them of grace, making them more earnest as debtors, and persuading them to be of good courage. To Him who is able to build you up. He did not say, To build, but, To build upon, showing that they had already been built, Then he reminded them of the hope to come, saying: And to give you an inheritance among all them that are sanctified. Then again an exhortation: I have coveted, he says, no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel. He takes away the root of evils, the love of money. Of silver, he says, or gold. He did not say, I did not take; but, Neither did I covet. This is not yet a great thing, but what comes after this is great. You yourselves know, that these hands have ministered to my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have showed you all things, how that so laboring you ought to support the weak. See him using the work, and not simply, but laboring. These hands have ministered to my necessities, and to them that were with me. This is to shame them. And see, how worthily. For he did not say to be above money, but what? To support the weak. Not simply 60.314 of all, but of the weak. And to remember the words of the Lord, which He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Lest anyone should think that this was said to them, and that he was giving an example, as he says elsewhere, Giving you an example, he brought forward the declaration of Christ, saying: It is more blessed to give than to receive. He prayed for them, exhorting; he shows it also by deed. And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down with them all, and prayed; not simply, but with much compunction. Great is the consolation; and by saying, I commend you to the Lord, he comforts. And there was much weeping of all, and they fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him, sorrowing, most of all for the words which he had spoken, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him to the ship. He said, that grievous wolves shall enter in; he said, that I am pure from the blood of all men; both of these things are fearful and sufficient to cause grief; but most of all, this more than anything else pained them, to hear that they should see him no more; and this made the conflict severe. And they accompanied him, he says, to the ship. So they loved him, so they were disposed towards him. And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Cos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara. And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth. Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre. See, he came to Lycia, and sailing over to Phoenicia, leaving Cyprus, he sailed down to Tyre; for there the ship was to unlade her burden. This is the reason for going to Tyre. And finding disciples, we tarried with them seven days: who 60.315 said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem. See, they also prophesy the afflictions. It is ordered that it be said by them also, lest anyone should think that Paul was saying these things simply and boasting. And again there praying they separate from one another. And when it came to pass that we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed. And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again. And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais: and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day. And the next day we departed, and came unto Cæsarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him. To Cæsarea, he says,

Παρατίθεμαι ὑμᾶς, ἀδελφοὶ, τῷ Θεῷ καὶ τῷ λόγῳ τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ· τουτέστι, τῇ χάριτι αὐτοῦ. Καὶ καλῶς οὕτως εἶπεν· οἶδε γὰρ, ὅτι ἡ χάρις σώζει.
