But it occurs to me to say that being destroyed by one another and being led away with one another to death—the death-bringing and man-destroying works of evil—might not only be depicted in images, or happen even to the strongest of animals, but also frequently occurs among nations, such as those that marched against us Romans, slaying one another and by one another, being destroyed by the power of Christ who δια ηαλοσις,πτ2.655 scatters the nations that desire wars and does not rejoice in bloodshed, who also shows the just man treading upon the asp and basilisk and trampling the lion and the dragon.
