Jehoshaphat asked for him to be called. And when Micaiah was called, Ahab asked if he should fight or not. But he said, "I have seen Israel scattered on the mountains like a flock without a shepherd. And the Lord told me that they would be saved and return, but you alone would fall in Ramoth." When Micaiah said these things, Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you that he always prophesies evil for me?" But a certain Zedekiah of the false prophets slapped Micaiah's jaw. But he said to him, "After a little while you will go from chamber to chamber, hiding yourself." And King Ahab ordered him to be imprisoned and guarded until he himself returned. And Micaiah said, "If you return in peace, the Lord has not spoken through me." And when the kings had already gone forth, the king of the Syrians drew up his forces against them, having commanded his soldiers to fight with no one else but only with Ahab. But he, having changed his royal robe, put on a common one. But when the commanders of the Syrians saw Jehoshaphat royally attired, they thought he was Ahab and surrounded him. But when they realized he was not the king of Israel, they withdrew. But a 1.141 certain man drew his bow and struck Ahab. And realizing he had been mortally wounded, he ordered the charioteer to take the chariot out of the battle; and about sunset he died. And the Syrians, realizing Ahab was dead, went away to their own people, but the king's corpse, having been brought to Samaria, is buried. And the chariot, stained with the blood of the king, they washed in the pool of Samaria, and the dogs licked up the blood, and the prostitutes washed themselves by the pool, as Elijah had foretold. And Ahab died where Micaiah had prophesied, not escaping the destruction even though it had been foretold to him, having reigned twenty-two years. And his son Ahaziah received the kingdom after him. And to Jehoshaphat the king, when he had returned to Jerusalem from the alliance with Ahab, Jehu the prophet brought a charge that he had allied himself with a wicked man; but he said he was delivered by God, although He was displeased with his deed. And the king gave thanks. Then, going through the country under him, he commanded them to keep the laws, and having appointed judges everywhere, he ordered them to judge justly. And when the Moabites and Ammonites, having also taken Arabs with them, came against him, he called upon God for help. And a certain prophet said that God would fight for him, and he commands him to lead out the army, but not to engage with the enemy, but standing still to see the help from God. And in the morning the king, having gone out with the army, commanded it to stand still, and the p1.142 riests to stand before the army with the trumpets, and the Levites and the singers to sing a song of thanksgiving to God. And the enemies, having been moved against each other, killed each other, so that no one was saved. And Jehoshaphat gave the enemy's camp over to the army for plunder. From then on the foreigners, fearing him as one who had divine assistance, were quiet. But Ahaziah the king of the Israelites was like his own parents in wickedness. And about the second year of his reign, the Moabites withheld the tribute which they used to pay to his father. And having fallen ill, he sent to the god of Ekron, named Fly, to ask if he would recover. But Elijah, meeting those who had been sent, commanded them to turn back and say to the one who sent them to the god of the foreigners, as if there were no God in Israel, that he would not rise from his bed. And the men, having returned, told what they had heard. And Ahaziah asked who it was who had said these things. And when they said they did not know, he demanded that they describe the appearance of that man. And when they said he was hairy and was girt with a leather belt, he understood that it was Elijah. And having sent a captain of fifty with those under him, he commanded the prophet to be brought. And the one who was sent, having found him on the top of the mountain, commanded him to come to the king. And when Elijah prayed, fire flowing from heaven destroyed the captain of fifty and those with him. And the king sent another
