λθ´. Just as a gardener, by not removing the weeds, chokes the vegetables; so also the mind, by not cleansing its thoughts, destroys its labors.
μ´. A prudent man is one who accepts counsel, and especially that of a spiritual father counseling according to God.
μα´. One who is deadened by the passions does not perceive counsel, and does not endure spiritual discipline at all.
μβ´. He who does not accept counsel does not make his ways straight, but is always carried over cliffs and ravines.
μγ´. 1464) A monk is a mind that has renounced sensation, and that cannot bear even to see a thought of pleasure.
μδ´. A physician is a mind that has healed itself, and heals others by that with which it was healed. με´. Seek virtue, and do not be deprived of it, lest you both live shamefully, and
die miserably. μστ´. Our Lord Jesus Christ bestowed the light upon all, but those who do not obey
Him, darken themselves. μζ´. Do not consider the loss of virtue a small thing; for on account of it death into the
world entered. μη´. Obedience to a commandment is the resurrection of the dead. For to virtue according to nature
life follows. μθ´. When the mind was deadened by the transgression of the commandment, of necessity there also followed the
death of the body. ν´. Just as Adam, having transgressed, fell under death, so the Savior, having obeyed, the

λε´. Φάρμακα κατά τῆς ὑπερηφανίας δύο πρόκεινται πράγματα· ἅπερ ὁ μή καταδεχόμενος, τρίτον ἕξει σφόδρα δριμύτατον.
λστ´. Ὑπερηφανίαν ἀναιρεῖ προσευχή μετά δακρύων, καί τό μηδένα ἐξουθενεῖν, καί ἀκούσιοι ἐπιφοραί.
λζ´.Ῥάβδος ἐστίν νοητή, ἡ διά πειρασμῶν παίδευσις, ταπεινοφρονεῖν ἐκδιδάσκουσα τόν ἐν ἀφροσύνῃ ἐπαιρόμενον.
λη´. Ἴδιον ἔργον τοῦ νοῦ, τό μή ἀνέχεσθαι λογισμοῦ λάθρα καταλαλοῦντος κατά τοῦ πλησίον.
λθ´. Ὥσπερ ὁ κηπουρός, μή ἀπαίρων τάς βοτάνας, ἀποπνίγει τά λάχανα· οὕτως καί ὁ νοῦς μή καθαίρων τούς λογισμούς, ἀπόλλυσι τούς πόνους.
μ´. Συνετός ἀνήρ, ὁ συμβουλῆς ἀνεχόμενος, καί μάλιστα τοῦ πνευματικοῦ πατρός κατά Θεόν συμβουλεύοντος.
μα´. Νενεκρωμένος ὑπό παθῶν, συμβουλῆς οὐκ αἰσθάνεται, καί τῆς παιδεύσεως πνευματικῆς τό σύνολον οὐκ ἀνέχεται.
μβ´. Ὁ μή δεχόμενος συμβουλήν, οὐ κατορθοῖ τάς ὁδούς αὐτοῦ, ἀλλά κατά κρημνῶν ἀεί καί φαράγγων φέρεται.

ἐπακολουθεῖ ἡ ζωή. μθ´. Νεκρωθέντος τοῦ νοῦ τῇ τῆς ἐντολῆς παραβάσει, ἐπηκολούθει ἐξ ἀνάγκης καί ὁ
τοῦ σώματος θάνατος. ν´. Ὥσπερ ὁ Ἀδάμ παραβάς, θανάτῳ ὑπέπεσεν, οὕτως ὁ Σωτήρ ὑπακούσας, τόν
θάνατον ἐνέκρωσεν. να´. Νέκρωσον τήν κακίαν, ἵνα νεκρός μή ἀναστῇς, καί ἐκ μικροῦ θανάτου εἰς μέγαν
μεταβῇς. νβ´. ∆ιά τήν τοῦ Ἀδάμ παράβασιν ὁ Σωτήρ ἐνηνθρώπησεν, ἵνα τό κατά μικρόν λύσας
τούς πάντας ἐξαναστήσῃ. νγ´. Ἐκ ζωῆς εἰς ζωήν ἐκεῖνος μεταβαίνει, ὁ τά πάθη νεκρώσας, καί τῆς ἀγνοίας
χωρισθείς. νδ´. Ἐρεύνησον τάς Γραφάς, καί εὑρίσκεις τάς ἐντολάς, καί τά λεγόμενα ποίησον,
καί τῶν παθῶν ἀπαλάττῃ. νε´. Ὑπακοή ἐντολῆς, ψυχῆς ποιεῖ κάθαρσιν, ἡ δέ τῆς ψυχῆς κάθαρσις, φωτός ποιεῖ
μέθεξιν.
